History of Kowat Alrami

Origins & Background of Kowat Alrami

Martial arts, as we know them today, have evolved over centuries, originating from the fundamental need for survival. What began as a unified system of combat techniques—including archery, wrestling, and hand-to-hand combat—has splintered into the distinct martial arts we recognize now, such as Karate, Judo, Kickboxing, and Jujutsu. Ancient warriors and civilizations developed these techniques by observing nature, animal behavior, and human instincts, refining them into the arts we practice today.

Evolution of Martial Arts

Romania: Wrestling’s Transformation; In Romania, wrestling transitioned from a deadly form of entertainment involving swords and arches into a structured sport. They created specialized arenas and developed rules, ultimately shaping it into the Olympic sport we know today.

China: The Philosophy Behind Jujutsu; The Chinese adopted Jujutsu and infused it with their philosophical beliefs, leading to the birth of Kung Fu. Chinese martial schools incorporated these philosophies into their practice, transforming Jujutsu into a disciplined art form that emphasizes skill and mindfulness.

Japan: Jujutsu’s Scientific Evolution; The Japanese took Jujutsu and applied a scientific approach to self-defense, leading to the development of various martial arts such as Aikido, Kendo, and Karate. These arts evolved over time, each adopting unique methods and philosophies, yet maintaining a common foundation rooted in Jujutsu.

Global Spread and Adaptation; As martial arts spread globally, each culture adapted the techniques to fit their own philosophies and physical disciplines. From Malaysia’s Silat Seni Gayong to Korea’s Taekwondo, and from the United States’ Kickboxing to Thailand’s Muay Thai, each martial art has evolved with its own distinct style and rules.

Unified Martial Principles

Despite the diversity in martial arts, common principles like nerve control, moral strength, and mental focus are shared across all styles. These sports build not only physical strength but also confidence, wisdom, and patience, contributing to overall personal development. Training in martial arts sharpens the senses, teaches the importance of knowing one’s abilities and limits, and ensures force is only used for self-defense.

Reclaiming Arabian Martial Heritage

There’s a rich history of martial arts originating in Arab lands, such as Babylon and Egypt. However, these arts were overshadowed as the East and West developed their own styles. Today, many of these arts have returned to us, but in different forms and with new names. Inspired by this, we have dedicated ourselves to developing a modern Arabian combat style that draws from our heritage—KOWAT AL-RAMI (Power of the Throw).

We invite everyone, especially those with experience in martial arts, to contribute to the development and promotion of KOWAT AL-RAMI. This initiative is not about dismissing other styles but about embracing and refining our unique Arabian martial tradition. Through continued practice and innovation, we aim to elevate KOWAT AL-RAMI as a distinguished and respected martial art on the global stage.
